Is Royal Purple that much better?
I've seen a dyno run on TV where there was a few extra ponies made on a run. If I'm going for every last pony like for racing I would use it. Otherwise I run Amsoil thru out and have had great luck with it.
Royal Purple is good, but not the best. Of course, how can anything actually be "the best"? I use Royal Purple & Lucas Oil on my cars. Both brands are good. Front & rear differentials, transmissions, transfer cases, and engines.
yah i've heard good things about lucas as well.
so the general opinon is most any synthetic will do. nothing justifies buying RP over any other brand??
thanks for all the insight guys!

The only place I've seen RP on consumer markets around here are PeP Boys, & local Speed Shops! It's $7.42 A quart! They can keep it as far as I'm concerned! I recently switched over to MotorCraft Syn-Blend 5W-20, from running the 1st 18,000mi on Mobil-1 5W-20....Mobil1's price was always rising so I ditched buying an oil from the world most greediest company! I am more than satisfied with the Motorcraft Blend, the 5.4 runs just as smooth & is just as quiet with the MotorCraft Blend!...............

openclasspro#11 was insinuating that Wal*Mart is... Hence the statement about not shopping there...

I agree with openclasspro#11.

Any gains, 1-3 MPG @ best, will be from a full fluid exchange. Not just engine oil. That means transmission, transfer case, front differential, rear differential, and engine oil. Some people also use the radiator additives that Red Line & Royal Purple market. I, myself, have used Lucas Oil Upper Cylinder Lubricant in all my vehicles.
