Air intake system
I have a question, What is wrong with takeing the intake tube that runs from the fender to the filter box off and just running the open box with a K-N filter on a 2005 F150 5.4 FX4.

It can be done if that is what you want. There is just more clean cool air coming in from the OEM format.
Stick with regular dry filters, because, the ones you have to oil will end up costing you efficency in the long run.
