Both fuel pumps failing?

Ok so it started about a month ago i was driving and i was on my rear tank when the truck died. Went to start it back up then it dies again once again i starte it back up then she ran fine for the day. Got it home and found out my front tank actually works so i have been using my front tank and the rear on occasion. I know i have to replace the rear pump but then one day my front tank did the same thing, died on me while i was in a intersection, started it back up and got it going again. Now every morning for me to start it i have to turn the ignition on twice to prime the pump so it will start if not it will start then begin to die unless i give it some gas. Are both pumps failing?

Sounds like some restriction is definitely somewhere. What was the initial reason you didn't use the front tank? How long has it been since it had any fuel running through it?

I had an 88 do that exact same thing to me, and it ended up being the high pressure pump on the rail. BUT, if I remember correctly, your model doesn't have that high pressure pump. So, it is VERY likely that both your pumps are bad.

Have you changed the fuel filter lately?

The reason i never used the front tank is every time i tried it it just made a weird noise and the truck stalled but i soon figured out it didnt have enough fuel (yea i feel like an idiot) The last time i changed the filter was about 2 months ago.

I might be wrong, but I thought those trucks have three pumps. Each tank has one and there is one right under the driver inside the frame rail. Could the front one be going bad?
