Sqeak coming from driveshaft?

Recently I noticed a squeak -- it sounded like a rubber squeak, so I thought something was rubbing the rear tires.. I had my wife drive the truck down the driveway as I crawled along trying to locate it. Definately not the tires, but sounds like it is coming from the driveshaft area. The squeak speeds up/slows down with speed. Could it be the seal to the rear diff. or transfer case? I had all that stuff serviced by ford about 6k ago, but if those seals can somehow get dry, it sounds like a rubber squeak, so that's my best guess. Any ideas?

get the u-joints checked and quick. replacing them is very easy. probably about time for it anyway.

i ignored a similar noise and later found it was my u-joint. it ended up getting very hot and nearly seizing altogether. lucky i had gotten to it in time.

Thanks for the replies, it sounds like it may be spot on. I have an appt at the dealership Tues. Looking back at my service record, they replaced the front u joint last year, but I don't believe they replaced the rear. I was going to let this issue hang for a while, considering, every time I bring it in, I leave with a very empty wallet - but I could be averting a larger problem, so well worth it.

Thanks again.
