Sunbird running lean
Sunbird running lean
My girlfriends 92 sunbird with the 2.0 N/A is running lean big time and missing in all cylinders. It isn't throwing any codes. The ignition has all been recently replaced and the plugs are burning big time white. I know this is the forum but I tried googling it and didn't come up with much. Before I just start throwing money at it anyone have an idea of what to take a look at on these cars. Thank You

1st best idea... get rid of that POS... second more practicle idea, change the fuel filter. But then your not throwing codes. How do you know it is lean? It could very well be normal plug color. You could have other problems like a dirty throttle body, or map/maf sensor. Even an O2 sensor. Start with the filter though.
sounds like a fuel issue if "ALL" cylinders are running lean. Possibly a plugged fuel filter or fuel pump going bad. Check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail. I had a 91 Sunbird with the 3.1L and I recall it having a schrader valve with a black screw on cap.
It's wierd i cleaned up the sendor in the air box (IAT I believe) with brake and electrical cleaner and seemed to cure it for about 15 miles and then it went back to its usual tricks. I'll pop the fuel filter off and try blowing through it. Anyone know where it is on that car?
