So, the other day I was starting my 06 4.6 and the ignition took awhile like it always does and then there was a crash noise. Sounded like metal scraping against metal. Since then every time I start it I have a rattle and the best way I can descride the sound, is of a tailpipe dragging. It has also started to do this when I am driving for a few seconds, then stops. Took starter apart yesterday and tested it, and it is fine. A few of the teeth on the gear were chewed down a little but I am not sure that would be causing the noise. And it is not the exhaust, from muffler back anyways.

Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like a ring gear/flywheel/flexplate problem. If you are still on warranty, head to the dealer.
