F-250 LD oil capacity
The engine from the original poster takes 6 quarts. Period. The 'normal' range on the dipstick is just that: Normal range. In the owner's manual and service manual, nowhere does it state 'full to the MAX line', they tell what VOLUME of oil to fill it with, and that volume is 6 quarts. No more, and no less. Wherever 6 quarts of oil happens to fall on your dipstick is 'FULL'. There's is absolutely no need to add more than that. If it lets you sleep better at night, fill it to the MAX line. It's not going to hurt anything. However, it doesn't change the fact that the volume of oil the engineers specified is 6 quarts.

I don't think they believe Ford or us Joe - One poster in this thread is stuck on adding 7 quarts to his stock 2 valve.. He has a 77OO with a remote set up - It's identical to mine as far as "Remote filter in the fender well" - Hell , 6 quarts always put me about 1/4 of an inch down from MAX. - That's full for my 5.4L . If he is adding 7 quarts ~ That's gottuh be way over MAX
He'll have to learn the hard way I guess - To bad, I like those 7700's.:o
