i have a 2002 f-150 4.6 auto 4x4
30,000 miles ago i had the tranny rebuilt ( 165,000 total )
28 thousand i had to have a new crate engine installed

I/ve never heard of that on any vehicle, Ford or otherwise. Sorry to hear about all your problems...

Happened on my dads 88 town car. Ford says the starter caused the problem but who knows. Thats the only one I seen.

My 78 el camino with a 305 did the same thing to, I found out it was because the tranny mounting bolts were loose form the previous owner and I guess it was getting some kinda weird stress on it. Never heard of it on a newer vehicle thuough.

I'd check the bell housing bolts. They been out twice may somebody didn't torque them good. Could cause a little flex. I've actually had it happen on a camaro I had.
