COP's
COP's
I have a cop that has started missing and I am looking for a new set. I searched on ebay for the ones from global automotive like everybody has talked about but I can't find any.
I however, found these. It says they are for a HD but I assume they should be the same. Mine is just a regular f150 not a Harley.
Will these work?

I also found these. Any difference other than color?

Your all set - You'll need a BIG tube of Dielectric Grease to grease the entire insides of the boots - ALL of it and every one.
What ever you do - don't put more than 16 Foot lbs on those plugs and stay away from anti - seize in that model.
Do all that and you'll have great products and a successful install that will last.

Thanks for the tips Jbrew.
Should I just fill up the cop with dialectric and then stuff it on the plug? Might be way more than needed, but it shouldn't hurt anything.
When I bought the plugs I asked the service manager what he recommended to torque them to and he said they tighten theirs down to 14 pounds. Sound about right?

, don't grease them like that, pressure wil build and push the boot off the plug - If you bolt them down like that , you'll most likley fold the boot bottoms. - Pull the boot off each coil. Springs should remain on the coils when you do so - Makes sure the springs are fully connected. Grease the inside of the boot w/long thin screw-driver(to spread it out evenly) before you install it over the spring and onto back on the coil - Coat the inside of the boot - Install boot on coil / Install coil on plug.
You'll see what I mean when yours get there.
Yea 14' lbs. is fine , just don't go more than 16' lbs. - Manual = 12 -16 Foot lbs.
Just thought I would check in and let everybody know how it went. I knew what was wrong with it, cylinder 5 had a misfire, it kept throwing the 305 code. But I didn't know why, I just chalked it up to a coil gone bad.
Well I started digging into it yesterday, and heres what I found. After I removed all the junk on top that was in my way I found out that my thermostat housing was leaking, which was wierd cuz I've never smelt antifreeze. Well take a guess as to where the leak was. Right in the back towards the driver side, and guess where the antifreeze was going, right down into the cop area on the front driver side, which miraculously happens to be cylinder 5. I took the cop out and it looked fine on the plug side, but when I pulled the boot off the cop it was all corroded and full white crusty crap.
So after 4.5 hours, I put a new thermostat gasket in changed all 8 plugs and cops. She runs like a top now. Idles nice and smooth. She runs like it did when I first bought it.
Most of the plugs went pretty easy, some of them were a pain to get at. The passenger side rear. Why in the hell would they make those plug holes slant towards the back of the truck. For me the driver side was a hell of alot easier because they actually slanted towards the front.
So for anybody with a cylinder 5 misfire, check your thermostat housing.
