Buzzing sound

When the hoods open and I'm looking at the engine, its coming from the left side (as I'm facing the engine just to make sure ya'll got that) somewhere down by the belts. Buddy of mine took a look at said it might be the oil pump but I dunno....I don't know the slightest thing about working under the hood. Any help will be appreciated

Check your PCV valve located on the right valve cover. (left, facing the engine) Some aftermarket PCV valves tend to make a loud noise.

Not trying to be a smartass or insult you, but you may be best off taking it to a mechanic. I highly doubt it's the oil pump, sounds like your buddy doesn't know that much either. If it's down by the belts, it may be one of the pulleys or driven devices, maybe the alternator, power steering pump, A/C compressor/clutch, or the idler pulley.
