need some help guys

ok..so a buddy of mine has a 86 f150 5.0 v8 4 spd manual..and it broke down and he got a new flywheel, clutch, and throwout...well it started runnin again after all that and he brought it to my house and we changed the distributor cap and plug wires...well after all that it didnt crank..so we charged up the battery...still didnt crank...so we put all the factory stuff back on...still doenst crank..charged the battery...still doesnt crank...any ideas to what might be the problem?? thanks for the help...and if it helps any all the stuff we put on was accel..but we took it right back off

When you say it doesn't crank, do you mean it turns over and doesn't fire up or doesn't turn over?

Got the coil wire connected?

it doesnt turn over...and yea the coil wires connected....it sounds like its losing power somewhere

Sounds like you don't have a good connection somewhere. Battery cables or lead to the starter.

Have you tried using jumper cables and another vehicle? I'd try that first to rule out bad connections.

An 86 ? I'll bet the relay is fried - Can't remember where it is on those - firewall or fender well.

thanks for the help guys but....we got it fixed yesterday...turns out when he changed rotors he had to turn the rotar to fit because of the grooves...well he had EVERY plug wire in the wrong cylinder...so i got online and found his firing order and we changed all that....and he drove it off lol

That caused it not to crank? Seems like it should still crank , just not fire ? Oh well, glad you got it fixed

yea thats what i was thinking too man but the regulator in the altornator was out so it was frying his battery and that might have been the problem
