Misfire?

My engine was vibrating slightly so I borrowed a timing gun and noticed it was way off I timed it but it still had some engine vibration its only noticable when im sitting still and its idleing, i put new autolite platinum II plugs in but didnt have enough money for wires, also when i give it barely any gas is sputters and then kicks in I do want to get wires and maybe new plugs because i heard the autolites werent that good could someone suggest a cheap but good brand for plugs and wires also tell me if you think that will fix my problem or if its in my throttle body or anything that could be the problem?

You should have a sticker under the hood advising you on the plug spec'ed for your engine. Motorcraft parts for Ford. Bottom line. The maker of Motorcraft plugs also make Autolites, BUT, they make Motorcraft SPECIFICALLY for FORD. No matter what anyone tells you , they are not the same.

I would say you need to do a full tune up. Plugs, wires, cap, button, fuel filter, bla, bla, bla. Vacuum leaks will also cause some irritable actions out of your engine. Inspect all hoses and make sure your not getting and vacuum leaks.

Go outside at night, open the hood while the engine is running and see if there is any arching going on. More than likely you will find your miss then.

Stick with Motorcraft

I've tried the splitfires and platinum plugs, they do no good, and usually get you another code. Stick with Motorcraft plugs on the 4.6.

Not trying to be a smartass or give you a hard time, but why did you post to begin with if you knew you had a vacuum leak? Fix that FIRST before you throw any more parts at it.

Could you do all of the kind members in your area a favor and reveal the location that this so called ASE certified mechanic works at. They need to stay away from that shop for sure.

Gotta have vacuum. Bottom line. Thats why it is there.
