HELP! Romeo 4.6 vs. Windsor 4.6

I am considering switching from a Romeo 4.6 to a Windsor 4.6. Does anyone know of any differences that would hinder me from swapping them out? Please help!

There's a few miner differences when swapping parts from one to the other.
But if your swapping the hole motor in,,,should be a cake walk!

No

No Differences, As long as you get the engine pretty much complete, NO problem. It will bolt up exactly the same with the same sensors. It's a better engine too. I have done a few, and was recently on the fence about a build I was doing. I guess I needed some other peoples opinion, but it does seem to be the consensus that the windsor engine is a better quality item. I can say that the romeo's I have pulled, were replaced with windsors. Make sure that you are getting it with valve covers and timing cover on. Then there will be no issues for you to deal with. Also some windsors have the 8 bolt crank, if so make sure you get the flexplate, or flywheel.

Timing cover on 4.6 windsor

Will timing cover interchange with 4.6 romeo because the timing cover is cracked on the Windsor engine.

timing cover will change over.... the main differences are the main bearings are larger on the windsor along with the cam covers on the romeo are 2 piece wrather than individual cam caps like windsor uses.. windsor uses 12-13bolt valve covers while romeo uses 11 bolt.. which normally leak. also romeo uses a larger bolt for the knock sensor. but other than that the engines are the same.

Timing covers....

You might have to drill the 4 upper bolt holes on each side. The Romeo is a 8mm bolt while the Windsor is a 10. Also, I dont know what year engines you are delaing with, but in 02 there was a change to the crank timing gear which affects the cover. So if your jumping over that year in your swap it's a small issue. One has a two piece gear the other a one, also a different timing sensor ring. Dont mix them up.

^^^^^^^^ Old on the left uses two thinner timing chain gears.
