pulled codes-egr flow insufficient

pulled codes-egr flow insufficient

I would like to know if anyone has popped the code for this. It made my engine service light come on and this is the code i got. What do i need to do to fix it? Can i just clean my egr? and How?

Possibly a bad DPFE, they run $75-100, It is a very common failure on the Fords. You can clean the EGR, look under the sticky of how to clean the throttle body for info on cleaning it and the intake elbow. The DPFE has to rubber hoses that feed it from the EGR tube, check those as well.

Can u take a pic of the dpfe and post it. I'm not sure i know what your talking about.

What engine? Plugged EGR passages in the throttle-body elbow and broken/leaking vacuum hoses (usually behind the battery) can also cause this code (P401).

Fixed it. Ports from egr passage through plenum were clogged. Kinda surprising for 80k miles though

Very normal, I try to clean the EGR ports on mine every 15000 or so
