HI!... " Yup I converted to a 9.75 because I kept breaking the 8.8." LOL!

I'm going to build mine and hope for the best, if not a 9.75 might be inevitable. But the 8.8" will keep the look, and will even be great if I go with the 5.4 stroker.

no, sorry if i got you got confused. i got the weak little 4r70w auto in the 98. since it blew i got the built one. they really built it up the guy took out the book and showed me all the stuff they did. it sounded like spanish to me but they went through the whole thing with me today when i went back for the check up. its not bulletproof but its deff stronger. i love the quick firm shifts.

HI!... Oh well I just read your SIG and it said you had a 5-speed. You need to update your SIG. LOL!

The 4R70W is a pretty stout tranny. I've had mine built to handle 650H.P. The weak point is the crappy stock TQ converter. I ballooned like 4 of them. Switched to a Precision Industries converter and never had a problem again.

Anyone know who makes a 4R70 that will take 800 on the input side?

The only thing about changing to a 5.4 is you have to buy one. I understand that when you start with more power you end up with more. But if you buy a motor, hopefully with the ALL the right accessories and then build it, that's money that could be dumped on performance for the 4.6. Plus, no aggravation of having to do the swap. In my case, I would have to buy everything to convert my procharger to the 5.4...just more mack to dump in the 4.6... JMO For me...unless I change my mind, I'd probably build my little 4.6.

I'm just a handful of bolts from pulling the block in my 4.6 from this headgasket R&R. Where does the extra stroke come from on these kits? Different heads on the overbore kit? I'm just wishing, but still.

Someone needs to try the Hitech stage 2 cams in their 4.6 F-150. The Mustang guys are getting sick numbers out of them. Would like to see what they do to torque curve.

Stroke is from the 3.750 stroker crank, compared to the 3.543 stock. Im going with crower's stage 3 blower cams I believe, unless someone knows a better turbo cam

HI!... FACTORY TECH builds the 4R70-W "MONSTER BOX". It's said to handle something like 1000H.P. Jasper now builds them. I wouldn't trust one from JASPER. If you can get one directly from GREG EVANS (Factory Tech) that would be your best bet.

I'll probably switch over to a 4R100 "MONSTER BOX" when I finish my project.

HI!... Well you still have to tear the 4.6 right down to install the longer stroke, stroker crank, you also need to buy longer rods, and will need new pistons, because your not going to reuse the old ones. You can buy a used 5.4 engine for the same price if not cheaper than what the stroker crank/rods are going to cost you.

Right, but where does it go? Is there room in the bottom end or something?

Anyone know of any improvments to the M5OD besides a ZF(?) swap?

The pistons are "shorter" than factory, and the rods are also longer. There is plenty of room height wise, but you have to have the block "clearanced" for the counterweights.

Longer rods I get, but "shorter" pistons I don't. I guess I just don't understand how you can have a longer stroke without a longer cylinder / taller block.

The pistons are shorter to give the needed clearance of the longer stroke.
