4.6 Misfire

Does it miss @ idle?

Regardless, trace the harness to the AC accumulator - Tie the harness up further away from it- as far as you can. On the older models , the magnetic field can interfere with the ignition system if the harness is resting on top of the accumulator.

You really need to get those Autolites out of there , they won't help. Chances are there fouled from unburnt fuel - it doesn't take much with those plugs.

Suck test your EGR valve as well . Disconnect the green vacuum line and plug a section of hose into the valve with the vehicle running. Suck on the hose like you were drinking a milkshake. If the idle deflects and the motor almost stalls - the valve is working as it should.

i have went through all the common troubleshooting ideas, swaping wires, and nothing is changing it, its almost like a ghost problem i cant find. and missing all the time

Switch No.2 injector with No.3 and see if the misfire goes to No.3 This sounds like the prob i had for a while rember that Jbrew? ah good times... i think my 4.6L has run longer on 7Cyls then on 8cyls.

Well get a leak down tester and a compression tester and put them on cyl. 2

Humm this is werid... is there any smoke coming out of the exhuast pipe? and what does No.2 spark plug look like? White black?

ok, but what would cause there to be gas on the plug

and it would usually smoke alittle on startup

and the plugs that came out were white

is there a knocking sound or just the mis-fire? do you have all the wires on the right plugs?

i have found that a white spark plug usually means that you are running to hot,

ok, so i went a bought a new motorcraft plug, still have the same problem, and all the wires are on right, and all connected, this isnt my first rodeo with engines, ive built and worked on all my previous cars, this one is just making my head hurt.
