Question Gears question?

Ok, I'm still new to the truck thing.. but I plan on having my truck lifted and a lot of people said it would be smart to throw on some better gears, like 4.56 and etc. Question is, where can I buy them, and which ones do I need?

I plan on a 6" lift with 35" tires, so 4.56 gears would probably be best, does anyone know the exact parts or a link where I can buy everything I would need to re-gear? It's a 2008 Ford F-150 FX4. Thanks in advance!

you need normal install kits for gears front and rear and you need front and rear gears...

yukon makes good gears and install kits i think

4.56's with 35's are great thats what i have.. with a 5.4 2v.. wouldent mind getting 4.88s but if you have a 5.4 3v then your topend is fine.. 4.56's would be great

they make master installs with all needed to rebuild your axles but no point sence the trucks new... less on install cost and parts...

plus you asked this question in the wrong topic....

if you do a fair amount of highway driving and dont plan on going over 35" tires i wouldnt go for the 4.88's
eats too much gas these days. i think pretty much all the gear sets these days are neck and neck. some minor hmm an ha's here n there between the brands.

Where to buy?

Thanks for the info shane, question is, where do I find somewhere that will sell the install kit and gears? I've been looking around online, but honestly, I still don't know if I would be selecting the correct parts for what I need.

A point of procedure - please post in the correct forum. The engines forum is not the right place for gear questions.

Go to the "OTHER POWERTRAIN" forum and use the search option. You will be busy for DAYS researching where to buy and what to get.

Just like on your truck the forum's are the same, there are a few things in between your "engine" and your "gears".

Good Luck!
