trying to get my oil sending unit out

trying to get my oil sending unit out
is there some special tool or do i have to remove the oil pump to take out the sending unit? because i tried a deep socket and it wont fit and i cant get a wrench in there. thanks

what motor ya got? i think the 12pt deep sockets walls are thinner did you use a 6 or 12?

i have a 6 cyl. but i tried a 13/16 deep 12 pt. socket and i couldnt get on the sensor. a part of the block got in the way and i couldnt slide it in. and i cant get a wrench on it either

oh also, on mine there was a plastic piece that came off and gave me more room.
