What else to do to get more RWTQ?
What else to do to get more RWTQ?
Ok on our 1997 4.6L F150 we are doing a PI head swap with the heads being cleaned up but the ports not opened any more to keep max air flow Veolicty, Comp cams for more low end TQ. I will also port and clean up the plenum and alum. part of the intake and TB. What else is there left that I can do? I swore I saw some where about making the plastic part a short runner intake but now I can not find it. Was that for a different truck? What else is there to do? I want strong TQ for rpms around 1500-2200rpms.
You probably already know this, but your engine with that work will make a good bit of tq. Free up what your engine is already making with gears and exhaust work. Putting some 4.10 or lower gears will give you the biggest noticelble amount of power. Just don't go to low or you'll loose highway speeds, and mpg's.
Pacesetter has quick trip long tubes, they are listed for a 5.4, but the only thing needed for a 4.6 is a adapter for the egr tube. But I'm going to run a similar setup while the rings seat in mine, so i will be interested to see the results after your tune.
pacesetters are nice and pretty cheap too 283.00 for a set put them on my 97 4.6L and i could feel the diff in power over shorties. i have yet to go back to the dyno to prove it....but my rear tires can talk for the TQ the longtubes added. If you have the money go for the dynatechs...but those run you over 1,000 for a set but there Stainless steal!!!
dynatechs by themselves are ~800-850. it's the whole bassani catback that they sell w/ the headers that drive the price >$1000.

Never mind I searched the Exhaust section and found my answer.
Anyone heard anything about turning the intake to a short runner or am I imagining things?

cool thats what I wanted to know.

All my buddies are and I want to say I am but the past two years I said that and it fell through. I hope to get enough TQ out of this truck to pull the cobra to Anderson and get a new tune on it.
Well I'll be around again, my cousin is debating on whether to bring his 800 rwhp+ 97 S281 or his new GT500, wish I had that kind of problem. I have a 64.5 coupe but it won't be coming. The guys from Pro Dyno were there last year and Evolution Performance sent down a KB GT500, but IDK if they will come down to tune. There are a TON of terminator's down there but I don't guess they can drive em, there were very few that broke 13's at darlington, I was dissappointed by their performance. But who are you going to have tune your truck?

I am getting Chris Tuten to dyno tune the F150. He is outside of Columbia, SC. I hope one day to have my piece of junk mustang to stay running.
