take a piece of paper and use it around your exhaust, it should flutter if you get close enough to the leak. (obviously works better inside or on a very calm day)

injectors tend to be a different tick, a lil more hollow sounding.

just take a small amount of seafoam.. i mean like a few tablespoons down the brake booster hose or wherever. i know people differ on its usefulness as a cleaner etc... but it will find the smallest exhaust leak fast.

I agree. Leaks will show up if you do this on a cold engine.

HLA's are common to fail or cause irritating noise.

yea but if it's the lashers, it's coming from behind the timing chain cover, so it's a little higher and on the front of the motor. tell you what, my headers tick (especially on the passenger side the loudest) in the mornings on whenever my truck is cold.... these are gibson ceramic coated (yes i torque them once a month) and it still does it.... you find out what it is you let me know..but so far pedal to the floor all the time

My tick started out on the passenger side, now its audible on the driver side, a rapis metal on metal tick. I'll be damned if thats an exhaust leak....

More info on these HLA's. . .please

I Had one fail. It would tick really loud at idle.
