your gonna have electrical issues, the 5.0 and trans has a diff computer than these modulars.
i'd highly recommend if your swapping going to the 5.4, i assume u have the 4.6

You are in for more hassle than it is worth. Why do you want to do this?

i was going to use a carborated motor and disconnect the computer. The carb motor only needs power to the coil and fuel. I was going to use the automatic tranny from the 302 as well. Im doing it because the trans went out on the 4.2 they want 2200 for a new one and i live in hawaii. I got the ford econoline150 for free. the whole van so thats where im at. It should fit yeah? all imput is greatly appreciated. Thanks ill proably start next week end.

I doubt you will even be able to get that registered even if you were to get that swap done. You cannot go backward with engines and trannies when doing motor swaps only current or later. Not to mention you will have no way of getting rid of the CEL. Doesn't Hawaii require smog checks?

Custom mounts hopefully the exhaust works on and on. Id bite the bullit on the tranny. Aint worth the hassel. These kinds of swaps just dont happen much anymore.

I think its crazy to even attempt this. It can be done, I can just imagine all the conflict's - Plan on spending countless hours working thru them all.

in hawaii theres no smog checks you can pretty much do anything you want long as all the lights and stuff like that work. im going to use the tranny out of the econoline van too, it an auto. What other complications will I run into do you guys think. I dont have any other choices and a 302 is all I have thats complete with everything to run. letme know thanks for the imput.

Here is my suggestion. Since you seem to think you are going to be able to do this swap why would you not simply pull th faulty tranny out yourself and rebuild it yourself. Your willing to take on a project that is way more comp, lex than simply rebuilding that transmission so why not just fix it yourself.

the rebuild kit for the tranny is like 600 somthing for the kit. I can get both cars for free. I want more power anyway so thats why i was going to do it. If I rebuid the trans im stuck with the gutless 4.2 and it could go out again or the motor could take a crap on me. Then with the 5.0 motor and trans I can get parts alot more easier than the 4.2. so thats why im leanung toward the swap.

For one thing - You HAVE to have a complete doner vehicle. If not , I would say it's impossible to convert. You won't be able to use anything in the dash - There's No compatibility. Then there's engine management. Your going to have to gut the truck it's going in. The dash won't be usable..

Mann, good luck.
