computer problem (misfire) maybe edge need help

ok first thing first my mechanic is sayin might need to have my computer flashed that that might be the cause of my misfire as they cant seem to find anything else right now has anyone experienced this before and how do ur computers just go bad. Also does anyone think my edge could have something to do with it, however it does the same thing set to stock and when not plugged in. Please read my last thread " misfire under load"

Change your autolites to Motorcraft and see how that works out.

You are getting duped at the garage. This is a tactic for unsuspecting people when they come in to the shop.

Plugs are much cheaper than a PCM.

I think that is a bonus that is optional on the EDGE. So, look back in your info, and see.

Since you are going to replace the plugs in the morning, disconnect your battery the entire time you are doing that. This will force your computer to relearn the cycle all over again. (AKA-poor man flash of the computer)

Remember to use plenty of dielectric grease. Let us know how it goes.

Good Luck!

My 06 5.4 Was Doing The Same Thing. You Could Hook It Up To A Computer It Would Show A Misfire But No Check Light.when I Finally Got It To Throw A Code It Was A Random Misfire. Changed The Plugs And Running Good Again.

OK, go replace your PCM and see if it helps.

Evidently trial and error from other people's past experiences don't apply to you.

I hope you don't do this with your chain of command. It is your check book not mine!

Woah take it easy, he is here for HELP, as he doesn't know the cause. The TECH said it could be the PCM, he is concerned not knowing any better.

why blame it on Edge or even mention it. just return to stock to see if the Edge makes a difference

Does the {{{Check Engine light}}} illuminate in the "Key On" position?

Is it functional?

When driven normally, 1/2 throttle, what RPM/load range does the misfire occur?

Answer as accurately as you can, if you can't recall - say so.

Have you set the edge back to stock ? Is there a program removal process with that tuner ?
