PCM Compatability??

I just picked up a PCM from a used auto parts place and the numbers don't match exactly, but his computer said they are interchangeable. Can anyone verify this?

Original
F4TF-12A650-PB KEG1

Replacement
F4TF-12A650-PA KEG0

Thanks

What year truck do you have? What engine do you have? What did the replacement come out of? I have read that in some model years [97-03] Ford had some 20 different PCM configurations. I think you will still have to have a reflash based on your vin#.

they are the same part. I do believe the last few charictors are the program version. you will def. need to have it to a dealer to get the pats set up and they will program the computer to the proper tune.

The truck is a 94 F350 351W 4X4. I spoke with a freind who worked the parts counter at ford dealerships for about 20 yrs. and he said the last 2 digits don't mean ****. I then installed the pcm and she fired right up, no CEL, and she's running like a scalded dog!!!!!

Oh, that factoid of the truck being a 94 model matters a bit.

No problems then as long as the you're not swapping a manual trans computer into a computer controlled auto vehicle, for example...
