Just an idea (for now)

Whats going on everyone i was thinking the other day that it would be cool to do a 6.0 diesel motor swap in my 04 FX4. Is it even possiable and has anyone done it before. Ive always wanted a diesel but dont need a 250 or 350 and i love my bodystyle but i was just throwing it out there what do you all think
Matt

Well, you would need to swap everything behind the engine like both axles, massage a tranny to fit under the tranny tunnel, carve out a chunk of the firewall to fit the engine...

In the end, you still end up with an engine that gets 13 MPGs--more or less from those I know who have this engine--and a vehicle that tows as much as a fully-equipped Ranger due to a half-ton frame (even reinforced, it's still a half-ton) holding extra weight of the heavier drivetrain pieces.

To use as something akin to that Cummins-equipped Dakota that did 222 MPH at Bonneville(?), great. For practical purposes, no way.
