Problem Reading OBD "Communication Error"

Well my "Service Enginer Soon" came on and I ran down to autozone to have them read the code for me. The scanner get a "Communication Error" everytime it trys to read the code. Any clues.

Could be a pushed back pin on your data link connector or more than likely their connector is worn and not making good contact...maybe try another store before going to far with it.....

Replace the fuse for the cigar lighter. It's on the same circuit as the power feed on the OBDII port that supplies the scan tool.

Yeah, don't forget the simple stuff...

I'm used to our scan tool which has an indicator if the power feed is good to the scan tool...I tend to forget that not everyone is using our stuff....

Thanks, the lighter is working but I will check the fuse anyway and see if I have any power at the connector with the meter.

If the scanner powers up, the fuse is good. Sounds like a scanner software issue to me.
