Engine idles up and down when defroster is on

Engine idles up and down when defroster is on

Well when i start my truck and have it in park then turn my defroster on the idle goes up and down quite a bit. Anyone know's what this maybe. THANKS

your a/c compressor turning on then off again will raise and lower rpm. a/c is always on when in defrost. i wouldnt worry about it.

Is that idle really normal? The computer should keep it constant.

Either I'm not noticing it or the idle on my truck with the AC compressor running doesn't noticeably affect the idle. Just saying...

I do have to run my AC all the time with the bad seal job on the upper edges of the windshield...it lets too much humid air in. Gotta' get that fixed soon.

Oh, anyway, the only instances I have personally seen of this drop in idle were from a low AC charge--these things hold around 2 Oz, so it doesn't take much loss to throw things off--or when my Ranger had already dropped a cylinder and that put a pretty big load of the compressor to the routine drop of a few hundred RPMs. So, something is going on somewhere.
