2008 v6 Mustang Vs. 2003 F-150.

Well, my girlfriend swears up and down that her new 2008 Mustang V6 (210 horsepower) will beat my truck. She claims, off the line, and up to 80 it will dust mine. I've drove her car, and just don't feel the power in it. I don't see it beating my truck.

My 03 supercrew is all stock, 5.4L with 260 HP or so.

Maybe she would jump me off the line, but wouldn't i catch up by 50-60 mph?

J/w guys and thanks in advanced.

B

PS If you know the answer, and it is she will win, what cheap, yet quality, mods would increase my HP?

Her mustang will tear you a new **** hole so big you will be able to drive your truck through it. The new v6 stangs are a low 15 second car right out of the box. your truck is about mid 16's tops especially since its a supercrew, probably more like 17 seconds in the 1/4 mile. you will need to be nearly full bolt on to run with one of them. The faster you are going the more pull she will have when aerodynamics start to take a role in it.

The GT with a manual transmission can run to 60 mph in about 5.7 seconds and clear the quarter-mile in 14.3 seconds.
Taken from http://www.edmunds.com/ford/mustang/2008/review.html

For some reason, i don't believe the v6 (with 90 less horsepower) can be in the low 15's? Is it really only a second difference between 300HP v8 GT and 210HP V6?

And yes, i know... "JUST ONE SECOND!?" That's alot on the quarter mile. Just making sure though.

she'll win overall, your 150, if completely stock with the govern, will stop at 100, the mustang will go past that, plus it has around the same tourque as your truck, she'll win.

My screw with intake, exhaust, 4.1 ls, and troyer tunes gets owned by about 2-3 car lengths by my buddy's 2006 v6 mustang with a gt exhaust up to 75 or so. They are deceivingly fast.

I've done 110 in my truck before, i thought i had a governor.. Guess not.

And lumadar, i guess so. I've drove it, and well i just dont feel the power. Without my pipes or the roar of the v8 you just dont know how fast your accelerating. haha

I've seen stock gt stangs run in the mid to high 13's and the v6's at about 15.3-15.4.

Not quite.

That 4.0L pumps out about 255 FT/LBS of torque...the 5.4L has about 100 more than that.

It's the ~2000 LB's of weight that matters...and aerodynamic drag, et al.

The only way this match is evened up...Lightning engine (I hope that was what was meant by "full bolt ons") and suspension, maybe even cutting off the weight of the extra cab space.

If you are having a problem accepting that a V-6 Mustang is a damn quick car, look at the 210hp. It wasn't that long ago when the 302 V8 Mustang GT had less HP and everyone was googah over the fact it was one of the quickest cars on the street.

You are going to loose. The only way to even it up is to have both vehicles tow a 1000 lbs trailer..........

A truck is not a sports car.

The newer v6 stangs do pretty well. I had an older (new one) one with a 3.8 and it was pretty quick My F150 wouldnt beat it. My F150 wont even come close to keeping up with my old Mustang. But the truck sure is comfortable..
