Help???

my engine is over-revving.
like 2500RPM at IDLE!!!!

i went off roading on a back road, nothing too terribly serious and then it idles really high afterwards and in Neutral it hits 3000RPM and it shifts from 1st around 3800RPM.

its a almost new 5.8L V8 in a '93 F150 Flarside XLT.
if anyone could provide me with a quick cheap fix i would greatly appreciate it!

Does your truck have a MAF sensor? i cannot recall if the 93s were speed density. If it doesn't have a MAF you have a Vacuum leak. Speed Density engine idle speeds up with a vacuum leak.
