2002 Troyer Tuned 4.6L
2002 Troyer Tuned 4.6L
Hey Guys I have a 2002 2wd scab with the 4.6L. Right now it has a K&N FIPK intake, Troyer Tunes, and my exhaust is 3" piping from the Y-Pipe back to the end of the cab with a Flow 40 Series and a down turned tip. The exhaust is a good compromise for sound...loud when you get on it but not too bad for normal driving, but I think I did lose some lowend power/torque as it doesnt have enough backpressure. Anyway what else can I do to get an noticable gain in HP/TQ? My dad says that headers are good for up to 50HP but that seems a little high and Im not sure what they cost. Also what about Troyer underdrive pullies - sounds like a decent gain for not too much money. Is it noticeable? What about a Cam - again not sure what they cost, but my dad says they can give pretty good gains? What do you guys think would be the next step? Also may regear eventually as it has a small lift and will be getting even bigger tires soon!
I really like my Mac underdrive pullies. The headers will help with torque, I would go with longtubes. Prob. around $300 for those, and the cams are at least $600, and depending on which ones you want a $200 set of springs may be needed.

Those look pretty nice for the price, however what do you do with the stock cats? I have heard replacements are extremely expensive so I am not looking to go that route. Do our trucks have 2 or 4 cats? I was just looking under my truck and it has 4 things that look like cats but the first ones on each side do not have any kind of wires going to them...are they cats or maybe resonators? not sure...if I got those headers would I have to take it to a muffler shop to make a custome setup for the cats after those headers or will they somehow just bolt up and the cats go behind them?

ok, ya I just saw the High flow cats on Troyer's site...for some reason I thought they were going to be like 3-500 dollars but they arent bad. So I am thinking that the best setup would be those headers with a 3" inlet Cat with a 2.5" outlet and then get my tubing reduced back to 2.5" for more low end power. Do the headers and just two cats make it louder than the current setup?

ok cool thanks, for the help...I think as soon as I get my new tires and possibly black wheels that will be the next mod. I think I might switch to a Magnaflow muffler too. What else do you think I can do for more power out of this motor without spending too much more money.
MAC performance parts, 15hp is a little steep, I could feel a difference, i'm about to buy e-fans, and I think those two together will make a difference. After 2+ years, I haven't had a single problem out of them. Just buy a gatorback belt from troyer, the pullies are bad to cause belt squeal on upshifts.
