Low Speed Usage
On my commutes to college and to work, I never get past 45 mph. I've never reallly taken the truck on the highway. I don't believe I've been above 2,000 rpms in about a month... maybe even more. I dunno.
Anyhow, I was wondering if this is ok for the engine? Am I building up a heavy amount of carbon in my engine?
I'm getting great gas mileage though... like 19 mpg city. So...
Any ideas?
I was thinking of taking a trip this weekend... but I think the weather is going to be crappy. Today would've been a great day, it was sunny and everything. I think we are suppose to get a lot of snow tomorrow... so... I dunno yet.
I really want to go someplace nice on spring break... but I think I am going to redo the bathroom that week.
I was also thinking if I pulled my trailer around with a decent load on it, and put the truck to some good use if that wouldn't be good for it too. Or maybe even loading some wood or something up in the bed and carry that around for a couple days. I don't know. The trip thingy sounds more fun.
I just never need to go beyond 2k rpms, as I just let the torque take over.

What motor

Since you mentioned "torque" taking over, you MUST have the 5.4L. I don't think your hurting anything. I think most are designed to be @ 2200 at cruising speeds, if that. That's where I'm at around 75mph.
If I had that model, the plugs would be making me nervous. In fact , I would trade it in before it comes time to service.

Oh, I have no idea with that tiny motor, you might try the V6 forum

Sorry , couldn't resist.
I think your safe as far as plug problems - that's a BIG relief.
That truck should last yuh a good long time and NO, your not hurting anything

My 04 SCrew has the 4.6 and rarely does it see any RPMs over 2000. I also get around the 19 mpg city and around 22-24 hiway but yeah, I drive like yer grandad. Most of my hiway speeds are at 65 mph and town driving has the tranny shifting at the 1800 rpm mark. I may not be the fastest on the street but I generally am the fartherest. You're not hurting anything driving your truck the way you do. It will probably out last your wanting it.
