Starter problem

Well i got all the missfires fixed (for now) now i have a starter issue.
The starter on my 2000 f-150 4.6 spins but it sounds like the bendix does'nt kick out.It will do this 5 or 6 times then it will engage and start.I took the starter off had it checked at auto zone, checked ok but it really didn't sound all that healthy.cleaned all connections, truck has a brand new battery. The teeth on the flywheel are worn some.I jumped the connections on the starter relay (on the firewall) and the sarter selenoid (on the starter) it does the same thing. Sometimes it will start 1st, time sometimes it takes 5 or 6 tries.
I also took the starter selenoid off and jumped the connections and it seems to kick in and out just fine.Any suggestions?

It definitely sounds like your bendix is bad. I wouldn't mess around trying to drive the truck like this or you might really mess up the teeth on your flywheel. I know you can't get a replacement bendix from Ford. You might try Advance Auto Parts for a quality replacement bendix. Or just go with a new or rebuilt complete starter.
