Rebuilding

Hey guys, I'm looking into rebuilding the motor in my truck soon. I'm trying to have it "built up" with more power and a nice amount of muscle. So what kinds of things can I have done to it that will give it a reasonable/respectable amount of power without going broke? Truck details are in my sig, thanks for the help.

Well I don't mean dirt cheap, well let's scratch the whole budget thing. I'm not looking to have a drag racer, but I'd like something slightly below that. Think of a truck that throws you in the seat a lil bit and is quite a bit faster than stock. A whole lot faster than stock actually. And I also have to look into a new bed, I have become afraid to step in the current one. Thanks for the help.

well if you're looking for power. a lightning swap would be a great thing to look into. and with the bed. just get it filled in with bondo, thats what i did.

Cool

HI!... Here's a link to my 5.4's build up and the problems I had due to a incompetent engine builder. LOTS OF PICS.

More HP build

Hi,
I think I can help you a bit. I was recently going to build a higher compression motor for my 5.4. I took a slightly different route.

I have a good and not too expensive build option for you. If you keep your pistons which are Non-PI -11 cc. dish and use a set of 99-up PI. heads, you get a good 10-1 comp usable on reg pump gas. Along with using the newer heads you need to use the newer intake to match. The both combined yeild you a strong near 50hp. Due to compression , redesigned cams, and better flow potential.

I have a pair of 5.4 2002 heads and intake, as well as a new take out steel crankshaft and NEW rods.

Please reply
Thanks
