Slow accleration
Slow accleration
Hey guys i'm new to these forums, and i had my first question, i have a 2006 regency rst f150 and the 0-60 time is about 9.6 seconds, is that really slow for this truck, if it is do you think it could be the throttle body or something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What? Are you serious?!
These trucks are naturally slow.
What is the engine you have in the truck now? It's gotta be a 4.6l or a 5.4l... if it was the v6, then it would be like 1 minute for acceleration depending on how far down you plant your foot...

Ford programs the computer in the trucks for a slow and steady take off. It makes for a better ride when towing (no neck jerking from rapid starts). I'm sure you've noticed that once you get into 3rd gear, the truck really begins to take off. It's all explained in the sale literature at the dealer (guess I'm the only one who ever bothers to read the stuff while getting my oil changed).
My 7th F-150, an '07 FX4 would be an exception to the rule. This truck really gets up and scoots. I've definitely surprised some Tundra and Dodge guys over the last year. Maybe the 20 inch wheels help.
