E-Fan Turn on Temps

I am in the process of gathering the stuff for the efan mod. Just a quick question about the turn on temps. I have read on here that the fan should come on 10* after the t-stat opens. Is that correct? If so I have an Edge Evo and the ECT stays right around 192 F So would that mean I should have my fans turn on and 192 OR 202?

Jeff

i think the thermostat opens at 195...alot of guys here run there E-fans 195Ish is 50% fan and then 202 is 100%....i have a simple switch i dont have one that goes by temp but that is what alot of people do 195 50% and 202 or even 205 is 100%.

most people are setting the start temp (for the first fan anyway) in the 202-205 range. If they have a 2nd fan, about 10 degrees higher on it. And either wired or switched to have one come on with the airconditioning.

WOW that was a quick response shifty. Thanks

Ok right now the kit I have doesn't allow me to turn the fans on at 50% and then when things warm up kick into 100% power. Should I just have mine come on at 195 and call in done?

so I guess the reason why the edge stays around 192 is because the clutch fan is always cooling not allowing the temp to rise.

going a up to 202ish won't hurt the truck any over time will it?

I just set mine for 202 and the fan comes on at reduced speed at around 206 degrees and maintains the 202 temp. The DCcontrol.com controller is really interesting how it ramps the fan to speed and varies the speed depending on the temperature. Was kind of expensive at $119 but with my junkyard Lincoln Mark VIII fan at $29 I am still pretty cheap for the whole thing. That fan really moves some air, and is actually quiet at 50% speed which is when the Air conditioning comes on. The DCcontrol controller kit comes with everything except the LED indicator which cost $10 extra. Has the temp probe, fuseable links, and enough wiring for everything. As a matter of fact the wire is extra generous. Great product, now see how it deals with the Sacramento summertime heat in a few months. Very easy hookup also, the instruction are well written.

lenore do you have a dual fan setup? IF you do I would like to know how you have it setup. do you have both fans come on a 50% or just one? and when would your fans come on at 100% power?

The dccontrol.com website doesn't seem to work is that the right address?

The Fan comes on 50% when the AC comes on. The fan is variable speed for normal operation without air. Go to his site and read up under the different setups. By the way he uses the Lincoln fan in one kit and the Taurus double fans in the other setup. I ordered just the controller and the LED indicator.
