Belt Squeak...Need Help Fast...PLEASE

Belt Squeak...Need Help Fast...PLEASE

i have a '05 FX4 my warranty runs out in a month...when it is cold out side my belt squeaks...about a min or so it goes away....

took it to the dealer...well guess what...they couldnt duplicate it....

i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if anyone may know what may be causing this to happen....

please advise...

also....would it be worth is to extend the warranty?

You either need a new belt or the bearings in one of the pulleys or driven devices is starting to go - idler, AC, alternator, water pump, etc.

It could also be the fan clutch.

Have the dealer keep it overnight and park it outside.

throw baby powered around the noise, it will solve the problem...

Just buy a new belt. 25 dollar fix and you'll never have to worry about it. My 04' Lariat needed a new belt around 40XXX miles. Get yourself a Haynes manual while your there and change it yourself.

I had a squealing noise also with 265k on the original belt, im thinking its the idler pully, but it went away for some reason.....

are you sure its the belt? these trucks are common for having power steering problems when cold. mine whines like a sob when its cold. to get dealer to reproduce it leave the truck overnight, first morning start im sure it will make the noise.

Well, it may well be the PS but let's start with the horses before we look for the zebra. Change the belt.
