Talking Coils

Ok guys, I am about to purchase new coils for my 2002 5.4l. I was looking at accel's product vs Motoblue. They are the same price, which product is better? any feedback would be appreciated. I am sure this has been talked about before... I did a search and did not find much, so I appoligize in advance.... THanks George

Also should I replace the rubber boot that connects to the coil or leave the original one in place? Nvr changed the plugs before... the truck runs fine ... just wanted to due a bit of maintaince to the truck.

If the COPS are in good physical condition, it is a waste of money to buy new ones. Do you realize that the COPs are just copper wire wound around a steel laminated core? There is not much to go wrong there. Either they work or they don't.

Hop on EBAY and do a COP search. Global automotive sells the set for $104 to your door. Screw the after market stuff. Get MOTORCRAFT PLUGS (not auto lites). I have the Global Automotive COPS, GRANATELLI PERFORMANCE BOOTS and motorcraft plugs. I felt and immediate difference. The granatelli boots have solid cores as opposed to the OEM windings. Don't waste your cash on the accel COPs.
My $.02

When you buy the coils they come with new boots attached to the coil. Yes the best value is the EBay coils. I had 78k when I changed my coils. Truck was running good but my MPG had dropped off by 2. I would not wait for a problem to change them. I changed mine and kept the old 8 as spares and my MPG went back up to 15.5MPG. You are going to need them sooner or later......why not be ready. If you need your truck and have to go to the dealer is will cost you out the nose.
