07 STX 4.6 rough idle
07 STX 4.6 rough idle
I had my free 3000 mile service completed about 45 days ago. Ever since I the engine has been idling rough. I thought maybe it was bad gas, so I switched to BP gas. No change. It ran smooth before the oil change.
I took it to the dealer this morning and 4 1/2 hours later they tell me there is nothing wrong. I take the service writer out to the truck and show him it's idling rough. He says if it doesn't show up on the computer, they can't fix it.
About that time the service manager comes out and says all the new modular engines idle rough, Ford knows, but there is nothing they can do.
I explained that I had traded in my 02 F150 4.6 with 100K and it ran as smooth as a top. He said I got lucky. I asked if I could have some of what he was smokin.
Anybody else have this problem?

Sorry to hear about that. I would try another dealer, as it doesn't sound like this one is very helpful. Unfortunately, unless they detect something on their computer, most dealers won't work on it. They have to know exactly what they're going to do to fix it or what they're gonna replace. Ford doesn't pay them for time spent rooting around trying different things to see if they find something wrong. That's probably why they gave you the BS about it being "normal". Please. That being said, I'd still see what another dealer has to say about it.
Mine has idled rough since day 1. Also an '07 now with 8,000 miles on it. The guy that parks next to me has '06 that idles smooth. Guess 2 people got lucky.LOL. Dealer told me the same thing"they all do it". I'm tiring of these responses.
My wife had an '05 Escape that the only way to change the temp was to rotate the blend control full hot then full cold. Hopefully you got the right temp on the way back around. Of course I got the "they all do it" ,"normal". I went out & got the owners manual & asked what page that instruction was on. Dealer had no answer. I took it to another dealer & before the write up was over The Service Mgr came out & explained to me that Ford was aware of a problem, but they did'nt know how to fix it. I wasn't satisfied, but a lot happier that someone was actually honest with me instead of blowing me off.
Sorry to hijack the thread. Tired of getting the "normal" from dealer service.
