It may sound crazy but i think its possible!

Im thinking about dropping a cummins diesel into my 2005 supercrew! I looked awhile back, and the weight difference is only like 300lbs heavier or something like that... I think the stock suspension should easily support that. I know it will take alot of retrofitting, and adapting, but I know it is possible. Im thinking im going to use the 5.9 instead of the new 6.7 just for weight reasons... Before i tear my engine out or even think about starting this, im going to buy me a little truck/car for gas mileage to drive while the truck is in my shop. Once I have the engine in im going to run twin turbos, 150HP injectors, and a good diesel tuner (which will basically yield 200 or so added hp!). Idunno call me crazy, but I am going to try it someday. This isnt going to happen anytime soon, but when it does I will keep you guys posted! I just think it would be so awesome to have an F-150 with a huge poweful diesel!

sounds like you must have plenty of money, you will need it. Plan on using all new gauges, all new fuel tank/ fuel system, new driveline, and better get some heavy suspension. 300lbs is a LOT of weight on your front axle.

Yes I know I will need alot of money... Im not planning on doing this for awhile... Im just trying to do some homework and actually see if it will fit... I just found the cummins dry weight of the 5.9L 24V, and its 962lbs... Im still searching on the 3v 5.4 dry weight, does anyone know this?? I know it will be alot of headache, and money, but Im willing to putforth both! Money isn't really the issue to me, its just actually doing it all...

Yea I know. I doubt I will ever get it done. But Im going to try eventually! If that doesnet work, I want to get an H2 and put the cummins in that! I would just really love that straightpipe cummins sound out of my F-150! Along with some black smoke! Hey it doesent hurt to dream! I still cant find the 5.4 engine weight anywhere...

Save the time and money and aggravation - buy a Superduty...

By the time you outfit the F-150 with appropriate brakes, suspension, transmission, fuel system, electrical system, etc. you will spend more than the cost of the Superduty - and it still won't be as stout of a truck as the SD.

Just my $.02 - obviously, it's your money....

But I dont want new a superduty. Im not going to use it to pull with or anything. I just want to do it just for my own enjoyment. I hate dodges, but I love the cummins engine (which is actually owned by ford by the way). I already have a 7.3 powerstroke superduty and I love it... I just love the cummins, and think it would be cool to convert in an F-150... Yes I know I need to upgrade this and that, and I also need to win the lottery! But I want to try it someday, and I will!

Haha. Nope I already have enough of my own! I just got done spending about $6,300 on my yamaha xl 1200 limited jet ski! And most all of that money is in the motor!

Uh, no. Not in this lifetime they aren't owned by Ford.

Besides, a 5.4L is about 600 LB's, a running Cummins with the many gallons of coolant and oil in it runs about 1200 LB's, I believe. Then you were needing to massage the proper trans under the truck and gut the firewall and inner dash....

Just like the 5.9L Cummins powered Dakota that is out there in existence...great hot rod that does 222 MPH on the flats, lousy for comfort.

Ford does not, and never has, owned Cummins. That is a long-time myth that for some strange reason won't go away.

Cummins is a stand-alone corporation, headquartered in Columbus, Indiana.

Yea I just looked it up on yahoo... It seems to be a common misconception. Alot of ppl get the story wrong. Actually the story goes that ford owns alot of cummins' stocks, but doesent "own" cummins.

I wouldnt bother, after seeing the work involved to put a 7.3 powerstroke in an expedition it really doesnt seem worth it.
