The 4.4 V8 is the new diesel for the F-150. The 5.4 will be upgraded in HP and torque. The 4.6 gets the 3 valve heads and upgrade in HP/Tq. All will have the new 6 speed auto. The 6.2 should be a late spring entry engine and maybe introduced as an early 2010. The 6.7 Scorpion diesel for the SuperDuty should make it's appearance in 2011 if all emmissions certifications/testing works out. Look for the 5.4 to be replaced with the 5.8 probably as a 2011 or2012 model. Look for Ford to be moving into high pressure gas direct injected engines. The HP/Tq gains are fabulous for small engines like a 6 banger making 400 HP/ 450 lbs Tq with twin turbos. Fuel mileage is up on these about 30% over a similiar HP engine. While Ford may not the #1 car maker today, they haven't been asleep and there are many new technologies coming out from them to put them back as the best and the newest. It's going to be an exciting decade for Ford.

I assume you are talking about something similar to Audi's FSI Direct Injection.

Man I tell ya what...I've alwlays wanted a diesel due to pulling my trailer. The extra uuumph would be quite nice. But I only pull the trailer about once a month and the rest of the time the truck would be my every day vehicle. What am I getting at with this???

I've got three or four buddies with diesels right now and they are all complaining like crazy compared to a year or go. Diesel prices out here are not cooperating and the increased gas mileage is not offsetting the cost of owning a diesel for them any longer.

Yeah, I don't get why diesel is so high either.. It takes much less refining, the demand is certainly there. Actually the diesel prices are the main reason I think pure gouging by the oil companies. I guess they can claim that the low-sulphur refining increases costs but no way it should be the same price or even higher than 93 octane unleaded, which it is here in central Tx. Actually about .10 a gallon MORE than 93 around here.

The reason why diesel costs more is because our Economy is based on it & the trucking industry.........& the oil companies know that & screw us because of it! Everything in our Ecomony is trucked to market.......for us to consume...........it's the ultimate screw job by Oil Companies!........

My buddy owns a ford dealership and he said the last thing he heard is that the 5.4 engine is going to be discontinued and replaced by a 6.0 or 6.2 and the 4.6 is being dicontinued but they didint say what would replace the 4.6 also there is rumor that the ford hurricane motor is supposed to be the in the f150 somtime soon also. I have no idea what the hurricane motor is but he said that it is basicly going to be the new lightning motor

Shooott!! That 6 speed is the real improvement. I'd rather have that tranny with a gas motor I think now anyways. With that 6 speed, you can gear the crap out of the truck, tow anything you want, and still get great gas mileage!! Ford is way behind the power curve just now bringing a 6 speed to market for friggin '09. Just take a look at the new Tundra. You can say what you want about that truck, and its got its share of problems too, but what truck doesn't?? But that thing for a 1/2 ton truck is far superior than the current 150!! 6 speed tranny and 4.30 gears are one of the reasons why too!!

I haven't heard anything about the Hurricane Motor in a while but a while back they were saying it was going to be the new 5.0 motor that was going to be put into the Mustangs. After I read that article probably a year or so ago, I never heard anything else about it.
