need help with motor!
anyone with some insight please feel free to respond..
I recently moved from lafayette Louisiana to seattle, wa but my truck stayed behind with my brother who would later drive it up to seattle. Keep in mind this is all secondhand information but the story i heard was the head gasket on one of the heads blew and he took it to a shop where he was recommended that it would be cheaper to put a reman. motor in the truck rather than mess with the current motor. My brother found an engine at a rebuilders for 1900 with a 3 month warranty. He then proceeded to pay 3200 in labor to have the motor installed. My first thought learning this was, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I would have flown down there and swapped the engines for $3200 myself. anyways, he got ripped off and that should have been it. On his way up to seattle however he felt a loss of power and a miss. Rather than stop and figure it out he drove it the rest of the way and by the time it got here the motor was toast. 3 cylinders dead, 5 at or below 125 psi leaking rings bla bla bla you know the story. So, the warranty company will only pay for the 1900 the motor cost, not the price of any of the labor it took to install their faulty motor. My dilemna is that now I need to find a reliable motor for $1900. My mechanic said the reman. companies are not reliable and i cant afford a factory ford motor. Anyone had any good experiences with a company I can find a reliable motor from? I will be doing the labor myself.

That bites
It's always family that screws you.
If you can turn a wrench I would suggest getting new rings and gaskets for sure. Yank the motor and get to work. While you are at it kick your bro in the @$$.
I see a rebuild kit in your future. If you haven't paid your brother back....DON'T.
In fact I would run the vin on the block that is in there now and see if you are getting the whole story. It could be the motor was NEVER replaced and your bro is full of it.

I would sell your brother the truck since he has a need to F sh^t up- give him the "No questions" asked deal . "Buy it or die". Then find another for myself.
Forget the reman unless it's from Ford.

i think new york might be a couple thousand miles farther than i want to drive, but thanks anyway! i may be considering one of those jasper engines but now that i have to buy a new engine anyway my brain is starting to wander towards a 5.4 swap... possibly a lightning swap... curse my gofast disease, you would think my 185mph streetbike is enough but no... its funny how things go from what can i do to get up and running to what should i do while i have the motor out anyway.. lol.
