engine swapping/upgrades

I have a '97 150 with a 5 speed v6. the problem is, the engine needs some really expensive parts and i dont want to invest a ton of money and be left with the same truck. here is what i want to do, i want to find out if any of my fellow 150 owners knows if i can put a mustang 5.0 or similar nasty engine in there and have it bolt up all nice. throw a 5.0 in, side pipes and lowering springs, wheels and tires, a little paint on the bottom of the doors and have a decent fast little buggy. any tips? thanks guys and girls

ive thought of side pipes but because of how the frame rail is soo low it wont work. i dont think the 5.0 will bolt up to the tranny. find a 4.6 or 5.4 from a 97-03 and it should fit. the 4.6L has more hp than a 5.0 i belive.

I agree with Shifty.
All depends on how much money you want to spend.
Here's some 5.4 Lightning motors. You would have the start of a great hot-rod!

I noticed the one guy selling that 2001 Lightning motor. It only has like 39,000 on it AND the doner is their as well

BUT! When you click on "other items for sale by this seller" He has a NOS Tank for sale as well.

Wouldn't that be a concern ? Trans is for sale too , wonder why he's parting it out? Also , his feedback is -0-

i dont think it will be worth mytime

it appears it will not be worth my time nor money to make this truck what i want, so i am just gonna sell it. use the money from it to beef up the rest of my fleet of tire burners
