POwer Steering Fluid leaking through cap
POwer Steering Fluid leaking through cap
What's up guys! Like the title says power steering fluid is coming out from under the cap. The truck is 3 months old and apparently it slowly trickles out through under the cap. My dad has an '05, and it has the same problem. He never took it in. Since both of our trucks do this I am wondering if this is common? Are the caps for the power steering fluid defective, and if some of you guys just changed it, put something under the cap to seal it better or went back to the dealer and have them take care of it.
is the resivor overfull? the only way i could see this happening is if it is overfull. the added pressure from the pump running will push out the excess. otherwise its cracked and needs replaced. if you just bought it 3 months ago, go to the dealer and get them to fix it.
take a look and see if the filler cap is c@cked. remove the cap and check the "o"ring and when you re install the cap, ensure you push it down as far as it will go, then turn to tighten. I installed mine like that once and got some spillage! it seemed like it was on right, but it was'nt. and if it is a new truck, take it in to the dealer.
