Truck Shuddering, Need Help!!

My truck seems to be shuddering under acceleration, if you lay on the throttle so you speed up slowly no problem, but as soon as you give it a little and put a load on the motor it has a light shudder, and half the power it should have. Truck Idles fine, and if your just cruising at any speed there's nothing noticable. I thought lack of fuel, but installed pressure guage, and pressure looks good. pulled all the COP's to check for water in the plug holes causing a misfire(Happened a few times before). But it feels different than a misfire, more subtle but about same power loss. Anybody run into a plugged cat, or Cop's acting up under load? The truck is going to the dealer in the mourning for the Cruise control recall, so I'll get new plugs at the same time, and see what new COP's are from Ford and from NAPA. I'd order them online, but I need this fixed soon. Thanks for the help, and I hope Y'all had a happy New Year!

Hi there,

I was having the exact same problem with my 302. When I had a friend look at it, he thought I had some heat damage and had blown a gasket. But I ran fuel injector cleaner through it on my next three fill-ups, and had the tranny flushed, and that seemed to help but there was still a little bit of a shudder. Finally, I happened to be taking a look at the engine while it was idling and it was dark outside, and that's when I saw that one my spark plug boots was arching and hitting that metal guard around the boots. I replaced my wires for 20 bucks, and haven't had a single problem for a year and a half (knock on wood haha). Other than that, I'm not sure what to tell you except take it in for a diagnostic.

Low grade misfire's are common - Order online unless your made of money. Online there $85 for the set (all 8) . You can't buy one coil at the dealership for that.

3 days shipping.

Thanks for the info

I with you guys on the COP failure, Does anybody have an Ebay link to find them, all I found was some MSD ones and I would like to go to Global's, I pulled a couple of them and sure enough the boots were cracked, and the springs inside dont' look in the best of shape. They are all original except one, so it's time to change them regardless. I was Quoted $112.35 A PIECE from NAPA!!!!! YIKES!!!

Cool , yea I would want to keep the ignition in tip top shape with that pro-charger. You like that blower ? Is it worth the $$$$ - any problems with it?
