Quick starter question for a 98', 4.2

so after over 280K kms.... i finally had to replace the starter... but in the process i forget which cable is which.... i know its a stupid question but i thank you in advance.
im pretty sure the one off the battery goes to the solenoid and the black one to the starter mount (gnd) but id really like to verify before i melt it

Also in the process of getting the old one off i broke the wires off the ... O2 sensor just forward of it, right at the connection.... at least i think its the o2 sensor..... its mounted directly into the block, couple thin wires into a green connector... all shrouded by a 1/2 circle shield (obviously not big enough)
THANKS

Sounds like you broke the wires to the knock sensor.

What it does is sends a signal to the PCM to adjust the timing to prevent detonation. You should fix it ASAP!

This one is for a 97 but the 98 should be the same.
