Another Oil Pressure Problem

Hey all,

I am new to your cool forum, and a new ford owner. My project jeep was recently stolen and vandalized (without insurance at the time sad. So my parents lovingly handed me down their 1997 F150 XLT A/T 4.2L 6cyl and 277,000+ kms! Other than the exhaust being rusty and a tad loud, ball joints loud, the truck runs great!

The major issue I am having currently is with low oil pressure on idle (in gear) or coming to a stop below 20km/hr (yes km! im canadian eh Only when the engine is at optimum temp. But i can avoid the supposed death drop by going into neutral when coming to a stop.

I thought i may have fixed the problem by giving her an oil change a while back and using about 20% Lucas Oil Stabilizer, it fixed it for a week and a bit, and now its back. A few times i've let her reach the redzone w/ the oil light on to see if she knocks or anything, but there is no knock, maybe a slight increase in engine loudness, but no knocks or weird stuff.

What do you think may be ailing this fine beast?

Oil pump. Bearings. What are you using for a gauge?

Get a gauge and actually test the oil pressure. It could be the sending unit that is defective.
