Aren't the manuals Helm sells the official factory manuals? I seem to remember years ago when owner's manuals had a coupon in the back to order the factory shop manuals, you sent it and your check to Helm?

That's the ones. I bought one for an old explorer we had. I think I paid $90 but don't hold me to it. There's a ton of info in it. It's really great if you're working on your ride and save the purchase price in labor savings.

Yes the oil consumption spec is nuts and it protects ford from replacing too many engines. Doing an oil consumption test at a dealer is a waste of time and wont get you anywhere. The best approach is to tell them you are getting blue clouds of smoke on start-up and that in addition to that you noticed you have to add X number of quarts between changes, etc.....Its all in how you word it
