1990 XLT Lariet 300 Inline 6 Eng Removal

We're having problems disengaging the engine from the transmission. Both Chilton/Haynes say to support the transmission with a jack and pull it straigt back, but it doesn't budge. Advice?

Remove all bolts and drive shaft. Should slide right out....... Once you yank on it hard enough. Maybe a gentle pry bar between the bell housing and engine block??

We missed a bolt on the backside. We found it by testing every hole with a screwdriver. I probably ran my fingers across it but didn't notice it was a bolt. I should have hung myself by the feet from the pulley and lowered myself in upside down :o It slid right out. We're now prepping it for the machine shop.

I'll keep everyone updated with the progress, problems, misadventures, successes. I work alot so this will take some time.

Thanks for both of the responses!
