Coolant Temperature Sensor 99' 4.6L

I suspect my Engine Coolant Temperature sensor is going out. Ive searched a lot and found that the symptoms are the same as mine. The only thing I am not clear on is where exactly it is located. I looked around alternator and where Upper radiator hose leads to but found nothing? Anyone know exactly where it is and if it's something I should try to get to myself? Thanks a lot.

Think on a '99 you have the CHT [cylinder head temp sensor] located on the driverside head that can be gotton to by removing the alternator.

I'm staring dead at the sensor but I can't get it out to save my life. I took out the alternator and everything. I just cant get a wrench to grab it.
