a stock rebuild is going to cost you about that much. you start adding on performance parts and its going to grow pretty quickly.

have you considered going with the heads from a 99+ mustang? They are much improved over the 97 4.6 and will be a good mod. You can also throw on some new cams while your at it and really wake it up.

I am new to the truck world, but nearly an expert in the mustang world. and from what I understand there isn't a difference besides the intake manifold when comparing 97+ mustangs with 97+ Triton 4.6 liters on a year to year basis. So mustang parts internals and stuff should do wonders on the truck.

Example : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-6-P...em320198655109

I am just unsure if the intake from the truck will bolt up? maybe someone else on here would know? If it didn't, you could still run the mustang intake, and throw an aftermarket plenum on it and just hook it up mustang style with the intake on the passenger side.

Nope, he'll require a PI intake; should be 99' and up (but I'd look for 01-up to be safe; there were a couple years of iffiness). You will have a serious problem finding one used.
