serious problem with ....

My buddy and i have been trying to figure out what is wrong with his 2000 f150 (v6). Check it out.... A while back he noticed when it rained his lights might flash on and off by themselves, maybe the gauges would go crazy, sometimes even try to start on its own with the keys in your pocket!!! Just real random things. Over time it has gotten worse. Now it doesnt have to even rain for it to act up. take the key out and get out and the windows, radio, mileage all stays on.????? Of course its electrical but where at. Its a serious deal. Sometimes it will try to crank while the truck is already running. then sometimes if you just put the key in run position without turning it over, the truck will crank on its own. PLEASE SOME HELP!!!

possible the ignition switch or headlight switch too. almost all the power in the dash and body runs through both of those switches

Sounds like his windshield is leaking water on the computer. Needs to get the windshield resealed in ordre to stop it.

Yes, Check the fuse box under the drivers side of the dash for water damage. Some of the windshields leak right on the box and cause havoc (may need to replace whole junction box), also the GEM is mounted behind there to.

Leaky windshield is causing a bad GEM.

oooh ooooh oooh

I just had this happen. My windshield leaks on the pass side and one day the freaking lights started to flicker and other lights inside the vehicle. What happened is there is a light sensor on my dash that got a little water on and in it from the leaky windshield. There is a circular piece you can take of on your dash to expose the sensor. I took of the sensor and let it dry out and made sure the connector were dry. I also took apart the part to expose the little computer light sensor and let it dry off. When I put it all back together the lights stopped that random flickering. My vehicle is a 01 screw 4x4. You can see the little vent on the pass side dash where the sensor is. Hope this helps.

Does your buddy have a remote start? Does the truck have one that he doesn't know about? Bought truck used?
